WILDLIFE
A collection of wildlife and birding encounters from near and far. Here you’ll find photos, notes from the field, and species I’ve identified along the way.
Some sightings are planned, but most are lucky surprises.

My deeper fascination with wildlife began when I bought a compact point-and-shoot zoom camera for my first safari in Tanzania. What started as a simple way to capture memories quickly became something much more. Being able to zoom in and see the fine details—especially on birds—felt like unlocking an entirely new world that had been hiding in plain sight.
I had always loved being in nature, but what gave me purpose was documenting what I saw. Photographing wildlife became a way to observe more closely, and appreciate the incredible diversity of life around me.
Over time, the challenge of photographing animals in their natural habitats became part of the joy of being outdoors. The patience it demands, the split-second timing, the humbling reality that nature doesn’t pose for you.
Wildlife viewing and birdwatching is also where I discovered my flow state—those moments when you’re so immersed in what you’re doing that time seems to stand still. It turns out, standing very still in the middle of nowhere, waiting for a bird to turn its head, is my idea of a perfect day.
